Pro-independence advocates speak at Alberta and the West Assembly

Presenting to the Alberta and the West Assembly over the weekend, Queen’s law professor Bruce Pardy declared Canada is broken because governments run everything — and they cannot be stopped:
“Canada has become a managerial society; it is planned, directed, progressive, and socialist,” he said. The only way Alberta might save Canada is by leaving it, triggering a political earthquake that forces the country to confront its own problems.
His closer: pass a referendum, disrupt the country, start a cascade, create an existential crisis, let the dominoes fall.
Lawyer Keith Wilson followed with the practical case. Alberta is an energy superpower the world needs — $90 billion in annual purchases from the rest of Canada, and Eastern voting power that will never give Alberta real control.
